SMS QR Code Generator

A QR code that pre-fills a text message

Scanning this opens a text message to your number with the message already typed — handy for RSVPs, quick orders, or support requests. They still have to tap send.

How it works

  1. Enter the destination phone number, including the country code (e.g. +1 for the US).
  2. Add a pre-filled message if you want to guide what people send — an RSVP code, an order keyword, anything.
  3. Preview and scan-test it yourself before printing or posting.
  4. Download and place the code on a poster, table tent, or receipt.

Good to know

  • Pre-filling a specific keyword (like "YES" for an RSVP) makes it easy to filter and count replies later.
  • Include the country code in the number — a code generated without one may not work correctly for scanners outside your country.
  • This opens the phone's default messaging app, not a specific app like WhatsApp — for a WhatsApp-specific flow, share your WhatsApp link as a URL QR instead.

Questions

Does this text message send automatically?

No — scanning opens the messaging app with the number and message pre-filled. The person still has to tap send.

Can I leave the message blank?

Yes — the code will just open a new text thread to that number with nothing pre-filled.

Will this work on both iPhone and Android?

Yes, it uses the standard sms: format supported by the default messaging app on both platforms.

Does this work for WhatsApp instead of regular SMS?

Not directly — this opens the phone's default SMS app. For WhatsApp, use the URL QR generator with your wa.me link instead.

Do I need to include the country code?

Yes, it's recommended — a number without one may default to the scanning device's local dialing assumptions and fail to route correctly.
